Lynn’s home in Florida, NY, had a leak where the brick chimney meets the roof. She wanted the chimney rebuilt with new metal flashing, paired with a full roof replacement and updated trim and drainage, so the whole house would be on the same clock going forward.

“From start to finish, their professionalism, communication, and workmanship were exceptional. The crew arrived early, worked efficiently, and kept the area clean throughout the entire process… The quality of the finished roof is excellent—solid, clean, and beautifully done. Cheers to Gerti, Lauren and their crew!”

The chimney was the reason for the call, and it became the centerpiece of the plan. Before the crew was scheduled, we mapped out the new chimney flashing in detail: the brick face, the corners, the saddle on the uphill side where snow and rain collect, and the way the new metal would tie into the surrounding shingles.
A full tear-off lets us inspect every square foot of the roof deck for soft spots, water staining, or rot, and replace any board that's compromised before the new system goes on. Layering new shingles over old ones hides those problems instead of fixing them. On Lynn's roof, the deck was checked board by board before any new material went down.
We installed a new metal flashing system, custom-fitted to the chimney. The base flashing tucks under the shingles on the downhill side, the step flashing weaves into each row of shingles along the sides, and the saddle behind the chimney moves water around the brick instead of letting it pool. Underneath all of that, the ice and water shield wraps the chimney area: a self-sealing backup membrane that keeps water out of the deck even if the flashing or shingles above it ever fail. The chimney detail is now built to outlast the shingles around it.
Lynn's new roof is finished in CertainTeed's Landmark PRO, an architectural-style shingle made of two laminated layers of asphalt instead of the single flat layer you'd see on a builder-grade three-tab. The result is a thicker, heavier shingle that holds up better in wind, casts a richer shadow line across the slopes, and lasts longer in the New York weather. The Espresso color is warm and deep against the home's cedar-shake siding and crisp white trim. The new color-matched gutters carry that same tone down to the ground.
Lynn's new roof is backed by CertainTeed's 5-Star Warranty, the top coverage tier: 50 years on materials, 30 years on workmanship. The coverage is transferable, so if Lynn ever sells the home, the remaining protection goes to the new owner.
A vented roof system lets air flow through the attic, which prevents the moisture buildup that can damage shingles and the wood underneath. We planned the ventilation during design and built it in on install day.
The gutters and the fascia boards behind them were both due for replacement. The new gutters were color-matched to the siding, and the fascia was rebuilt in PVC, which doesn't rot the way wood does.
We photographed every phase of the install, from the bare deck up. Lynn now has a permanent record of the materials, the system underneath, the new chimney flashing, and how the work was done. That record holds up for a warranty claim, a future homebuyer, or peace of mind.
Lynn doesn’t have to listen for water at the chimney during a storm anymore. The leak that is gone, and the aging shingles that were heading toward the same kind of problem are also gone. The new Espresso roof, the color-matched gutters, and the fresh trim behind them now read as one finished system instead of three separate decisions stacked on top of each other. From the driveway, the home looks like it was always meant to look this way.
