Jared was building a new home a short walk from the Goshen Historic Track and its museum, one of the most recognizable corners of the village. He didn’t want a roof that looked off the shelf on a street with so much history behind it. He called Extera and chose a Drexel Metals 24-gauge standing seam system in Hemlock Green for the new roof.

Because this was a new home in a historic setting, the work focused on two things at once: a roof that fit the neighborhood and a system built to outlast almost anything below it. We confirmed the vented roof configuration, worked through the color and profile selection with Jared, and protected the entire deck before a single panel went down.
Most roofs get ice and water shield only at the vulnerable spots, eaves and valleys. On Jared's roof, we ran a high-temp ice and water membrane over the entire deck. The self-sealing, high-temp rating layer blocks leaks even if the surface above it is ever compromised.
The roof is a Drexel Metals 24-gauge standing seam system. The fasteners are concealed beneath the panels, so there are no exposed screws to back out or leak over time, and the heavier 24-gauge steel holds its clean vertical lines without the waviness thinner metal can show. It's built to protect for decades with very little maintenance.
We coordinated the color, Hemlock Green, and the panel profile specifically to preserve the historic feel around the Hambletonian track, so the roof reads as settled into the block rather than stamped onto it. It's a deep, even tone that grounds the house against everything around it.
Jared’s new roof is backed by a lifetime workmanship warranty, as are all new and replacement metal roof installations by Extera Roofing. Drexel Metals offers materials warranties covering the weather tightness and finish for up to 35 years.
The roof was built in a vented configuration so air moves through the way it should. Good ventilation prevents the moisture buildup that shortens a roof's life from underneath, and it was planned in from the start rather than added as an afterthought.
The flashing, trim, closures, and finish pieces that keep water out of the seams were all new and detailed to the metal system. On a standing seam roof, these details are where quality shows, and cutting corners on them is where lesser installs eventually leak.
We photographed every phase of the install, from the bare deck and the full ice and water coverage through the finished panels. Jared has a permanent record of exactly what's on his roof and how it was built.
